The Story Behind Our Business
We first encountered whole grain foods during a visit to a friend’s restored 1760‘s gristmill in the USA. Having never experienced freshly milled whole grains, we were impressed by the wholesome taste of their products.
Learning about the nutrition of whole grains, as well as the history of mills as an integral part of community life, inspired us. It seemed to be a good fit for our budding intentional life of cooperation, sustainability and simplicity here in Kimbolton. As a result of that visit and through the on-site training and support of our friends from Homestead Gristmill in Texas, we launched Heritage Mill New Zealand in May of 2018.
Our small scale operation using hand made Grainmaker mills enables an intimate connection with the whole grain milling process. Heritage Mill New Zealand sources locally grown organic wheat from Ngamara Farms in Marton. We mill this wheat in small batches to maintain both quality and freshness. We then incorporate this whole grain flour, along with other quality ingredients such as organic coconut sugar and organic oats, into our range of whole wheat baking mixes.

Pancake and Waffle – The ideal breakfast, easy to cook and not too sweet. Perhaps Dad and the kids might be inspired to cook breakfast this weekend!
Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies – Organic wheat, organic oats and 72% Dark Ghana Chocolate are some of the ingredients that make these cookies a favourite for children and adults alike.
Multigrain Porridge – Cracked organic wheat, cracked organic brown rice and corn grits from naturally grown maize blend to give a porridge mix that can be enjoyed sweet or savoury. Our favourite is to add brown sugar and cream to this delicious breakfast option.
